Skeletonized prosthesis, also called skeletonized, is a removable partial prosthesis with a metal alloy structure: chromium, cobalt, molybdenum that is connected to the natural teeth remaining in the mouth that act as a support.
A skeletal prosthesis is useful when, for clinical reasons, it is not possible to place fixed prostheses and the patient still has some healthy teeth in the mouth.

The skeletonized prosthesis mainly consists of three main elements: the metal supporting structure (also called the frame), the false flange which has the dual task of restoring the aesthetics and concealing the underlying metal and the prosthetic (false) teeth.
The main structure of a skeletonized structure consists of a thin metal rod, usually cobalt-chromium, on which hooks or attachments and prosthetic teeth are fixed.

If the skeletal prosthesis has to fill the missing teeth on both the right and left sides of the upper arch, the skeleton will have the palatal bar (follows the arch of the palate).

When, on the other hand, the teeth to be replaced are in the lower arch, the metal rod passes under the tongue and is therefore called lingual.
The presence of the tape serves to ensure a greater stability of the entire prosthetic infrastructure after it is placed in the patient's mouth.
The metal support structure of all frames is connected to the user's natural teeth via metal hooks that also embrace the dental elements or via invisible precision connections.
